Building on the success of previous BIR IR(ME)R updates, this half-day virtual event covered both diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy issues. The emphasis this time was on governance, audit and managing patient dose. The multi-disciplinary emphasis and value of this event will be maintained as you hear about the practical administration of non-medical referrers and the latest on a national IR(ME)R audit. You will also discover what plans are in place to learn from radiation incidents and the latest thinking on patient doses.

Educational aim:

To provide an insight into the continued integration of the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations, (IR(ME)R), into clinical practice and to discuss the potential impact of developments in dose and optimisation on patient management.

Speakers:

  • Mr Peter Hiles, Head of Radiation Physics, Glan Clwyd Hospital
  • Mrs Helen Hughes, Head of Quality & Governance for Radiology, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
