Proton radiotherapy III 18 Jul 2017

This is the thrid series of the proton radiotherapy webinar. Dr Adrian Crellin talked about the objectives of the NHS England Proton Strategy. The importance of quality in this fast moving technical field is essential. This can best be delivered within an academic framework to deliver a programme of evaluation and research to define the appropriate and affordable role for protons within the wide range of radiotherapy modalities. Ms Hazel Pennington provided an update on the operational development of NHS England proton therapy service, which is due to be operational in Manchester 2018. Professor Stuart Green provided an update on the development of a protocol for reference dosimetry in scanned proton beams. This project is being supported by IPEM and has strong involvement from the teams at NPL and the leading UK proton centres. The proposed methodology is presented to provide an opportunity for feedback and comment from the community.
