The evolving role of oncologic imaging in a dedicated cancer center 01 Mar 2016

This video is an overview of our current and future direction as a Nuclear Medicine Department at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. We would like to share our experience as an integral part of the multidisciplinary care provided for all of our cancer patients as we provide both diagnostic and therapeutic services for survival benefit and palliation.

Educational objectives:
  1. Multidisciplinary care is essential in the management of cancer patients and nuclear medicine in particular via hybrid imaging plays an important role in staging, response assessment and prognostication.
  2. Nuclear Medicine therapies provide survival benefit and palliation in multiple tumor types.
  3. Novel therapies such as immunotherapy provide great opportunity for improving the outcome of patients with solid tumors and we should be aware of how these treatments can affect our interpretation of PET/CT scans.
