Anthony Maxwell

Dr Tony Maxwell Consultant Breast Radiologist, Nightingale Centre, University Hospital of South Manchester Dr Tony Maxwell is a Consultant Breast Radiologist at the Nightingale Centre at the University Hospital of South Manchester and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Imaging at the University of Manchester. He is currently Vice-chair and Chair-elect of the British Society of Breast Radiology. He has worked in Breast Screening Quality Assurance and is a member of the NHS Breast Screening Programme Research Advisory Committee. In addition to a busy clinical workload, he has wide research interests in breast disease, including the application of new imaging techniques to the early diagnosis and staging of breast cancer, management of the axilla, breast density, stratified screening, minimally invasive interventional techniques and the management of atypias and non-invasive cancers. He is a member of the Sloane Project Steering Group and provides radiological support to several large studies, including Mammo-50, PROCAS 2 and MIAMI.
